The Commercial Club board last night selected eleven committees. Meetings will be held the first Monday each month. Ministers of the city receive club privileges. Pool rooms and tables are due in about ten days. Members will be posted publicly. An electrical bell may replace the speaking tube at the next meeting. Committee heads include Grounds E A Snow chair, House R B Terry chair, Membership J F Marsh chair, Industrial C F Tomlinson chair, and others with J J Ryan, J P Rawley, Homer Wheeler, and more.
Wake county commissioners adopted resolutions urging the legislature to amend the law so that 3000 dollars yearly from the salary and fee fund may be transferred to the Confederate soldiers home treasury. The move was announced in Raleigh on June 15 by the Associated Press.
Paris reports German troops renewed attacks across the Verdun front west of Thiamont farm last night. They gained some advance at one point but were repulsed elsewhere according to the French war office.

Two sessions are planned Wednesday with luncheon for delegates. About 30 to 40 delegates are expected, including Miss Ella Lambe and Mrs Lucy H Robertson.

C C Deal of the Enterprise force traveled to Charlotte after the death of his wife’s father R A Smith. Smith died in Charlotte yesterday and will be buried at Matthews in Union county, his old home. Mrs Deal was at her father’s bedside when he died.
