British Aid Advocates Decry Amount Help Sent To Britain
Washington June 12 Aid to Britain advocates expressed surprise and disappointment at President Roosevelt's report that only 775,202,425 of lease lend equipment had been transferred from March 11 to May 31. Senators and supporters criticized the pace, urged less red tape, and warned that failure to boost shipments could threaten England and U.S. security. The report also noted 75,000,000 in war materiel shipped, with others deeming it insufficient to deter Hitler. In Albemarle, Henry Jackson Dees, 29, died from injuries in a Saturday automobile crash, with his funeral held today.
