Plans Appeal Over 5000 Votes In Johnston County Primary
Neil Salmon a Lillington lawyer said he would appeal the Johnston county board of elections decision to the state board after the panel refused to void 5000 votes cast in last Saturday's Democratic primary for solicitor in the fourth district. He sought a recount which was denied and argued votes were cast without party declaration. The county board certified 7683 for incumbent C C Anaday and 2005 for J R Young. They said a recount was unnecessary unless ordered by the state board and the board lacked authority to void the primary.
