Modern Norse Whaling Ship Larson Makes Antarctic History
A Norwegian fleet ship named the C A Larson in the Antarctic demonstrates a new era of whaling with a giant mouth opening to swallow a whale. The ship refines oil on deck through a built in processing line, hauling the carcass to a weather deck and into steam driven vats. The crew uses harpoon guns to strike, then reels in the whale as the mouth opens to receive the prize and the process continues to manufacture whale oil and byproducts.
