Salisbury June 10 The Rowan County Medical Society petitions county commissioners to establish a tuberculosis sanatorium. The effort argues the facility would aid indigent patients and reduce spread among those in contact with the sick, citing 50 percent infection rates. Also reported: Y M C A camp for boys on H A Trott farm, two weeks, and the death of T A P Roseman, 72, from paralysis with surviving widow and siblings.
The Ladies who organized a fly campaign report 1465 younger residents collected flies for measurement and four children turned in six and three quarter quarts of flies. They urge all town children under 15 to join, with prizes and weekly counts to boost removal of pests.
W M Marr is named superintendent of City Schools after a council vote. He previously led South Main street school and will oversee salaries and replacements while several positions are confirmed next Tuesday. The council approved Marr at 1790 dollars annually, with other principals earning raises and new posts created at Elm Park and Grimes streets.
Paris reports violent artillery duels last night on the Verdun front near Avecourt Thiaumont and the Chapitre and Fumin woods. No infantry attacks occurred.
