South Carolina youths' passports lifted on Hungary trip
Two South Carolinians Gilbert of Walterboro and Hair of North Augusta had their passports withdrawn by a U S consul after an unauthorized trip to Hungary. They were expelled from Hungary last night after secret detention since May 26. A friend reported their disappearance and alleged they carried cameras and documents to appear as spies. Consular officials warned of consequences and said the State Department would decide if they are mature enough for future travel abroad. The youths planned to continue hitchhiking to West Germany and the Netherlands to find passage home.
