Budget cuts defended by North Carolina lawmaker
RALEIGH AP Rep William T Watkins chairman of the House Base Budget Committee said the 95 million cut from the next biennial budget will not hurt state services. He disputed Dr Craig Phillips criticism over a 43 million school budget cut claiming kindergarten teacher training funds were oversized but the teachers remain qualified. He noted reductions in administration while insisting classroom impact is minimal and that overall spending will still exceed two years ago.
