Body Of Youth Found In River In Marshall County
The body of 16-year-old Joe Denton of Marshall was recovered from the French Broad River after a weekend fishing and camping trip. Sheriff E Y Ponder says Denton wandered to the river Sunday after lending a blanket to a companion. A rescue worker noted a stopped watch at 4 15 a m and Denton was dressed only in jeans.

Burlington To Lay Off Lexington Workers
Burlington Industries will close two textile plants in Drakes Branch and Brookneal Virginia along with Lexington North Carolina, laying off about 1200 workers. The firm plans to consolidate functions with Clarksville Raeford and Hot Spring North Carolina facilities and help displaced staff find other jobs.
