Virginia Faye Shinault Potts 41 of Rt. 1 Trinity died Monday at Moses H. Cone Hospital Greensboro after a year of declining health. Born March 9 193? in Surry County she married Charlie H. Potts on March 20 1954 and survived by her husband three sons Dennis Allen and Herbert Mark Potts all at home one son Charles David Potts of Newport News Virginia six sisters and three brothers. Graveside services are set for Wednesday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Robert Johnson 74 of 120 East State Street dies in High Point after three weeks illness. Born Forsyth County October 11 1902 he was married to Mataline Allman and a Baptist. Survived by wife a son and three daughters ten grandchildren one great grandchild. Funeral Wednesday at Cumby Archdale Chapel with burial at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Archdale. Family at home tonight 7:30 to 9.
Worthville residents prepare a public session at the Worthville Community Center this Saturday to fund and discuss the purchase of the old cotton mill. James Lineberry reports about 530 investors at $1,000 each, with pledges over $44,000 in three days and broad North Carolina interest. The mill, owned by Baxter Kelly and Faust Co. of Anderson, S C, would be bought and run as a local cooperative.
During an April 27 presentation in Raleigh the Triad Park Task Force described a general 2,000 acre area for the park. The tract sits on the Guilford Forsyth border north of High Point and south of I 40 with no exact site yet named.
Huneycutt notes the city school budget rose from 147 000 in 1967 68 to 292 000 this year. He says locally funded teacher positions absorbed most of the increase while state raises for teachers force local boards to match salaries.
Guilford County commissioners heard little backing for a proposal to charge a fee for rezoning requests. Chairman Gaston Faison argued that rural land seekers are likely taxpayers and the county should provide services without added charges.
