World Bank Pact Backed by House in Wide Vote
The House approved Bretton Woods agreements by a 120 to 18 test vote and anticipated final passage. Leaders say the plan creates a 19.1 billion dollar World Bank for reconstruction and development and an 8.8 billion dollar currency stabilization fund with United States shares of 3.18 and 2.75 billion, respectively. President Truman called Bretton Woods essential to lasting peace and economic foundation. A list of service members and addresses appears in the roll of affected personnel.
