Raleigh observers say Fountain will not seek a second primary for governor after Etiringhaus leads by about 50 000 votes in the first poll. Fountains supporters expect a second primary against Morrison Reynolds remains possible with Morrison favored to win in a second round. Voters registered for Fountain 93 000 and Maxwell 78 000 complicate a rematch as Ehringhaus could solidify a large margin in a runoff.
