Urban Garden Lights Up Bronx Slum With Federal Grant
In New York City a 70 by 60 foot vacant lot in the South Bronx is being turned into a garden by local youths under a $1.5 million federal Urban Gardening Program run by the USDA. The effort aims to convert rubble into food and community pride, with adults and children tending crops while facing urban farming challenges.
