Debated Liquor By The Drink In North Carolina
The General Assembly studies a 1977 local option proposal on mixed drinks amid a history of bills since 1967. Votes in 1973 and 1974 failed or were repealed, with opponents citing strong no-mixed-drink sentiment. The plan would let jurisdictions with ABC stores decide on mixed drinks for specific venues, with a $5 tax per gallon and brown bagging allowed where eligible. A separate note cites a statewide bike route plan by Curtis Yates, with last year 36 routes noted from Manteo to beyond.

High Point bike trail study stalled by council inaction
An outside consultant was deemed necessary to properly plan a bicycle project in High Point. The mayor refused to spend city funds, noting federal aid could cover most of the $20 000 cost. The bike committee reported bike sales tripled auto sales in 1974, urging a comprehensive study and future interest if gas prices rise.
