East Carolina Bill Seeks Regional University Status
Senate committee chair says fast action possible on Sen. Henley’s bill to create a regional university system with East Carolina as first member. The plan would allow five year provisional status under the State Board of Education, independent of UNC, without doctoral degrees during the trial period. Other colleges could seek regional university status. Senator Shuford remains undecided but notes greater support than earlier proposal.
