Zoo director reacts to near 4.5 million funding for future projects
Asheboro North Carolina The zoo director William Hoff criticized a state subcommittee for recommending a 4.49 million dollar appropriation for the next fiscal year saying the amount falls short of 5 million needed to finish the African Veldt and 6.5 million for the first phase. Hoff noted possible private funding if the 5 million is not provided. He said budgets depend on the final legislature allocation and that State Sen. Russell Walker helped lift funds from 1.5 to 2.89 million.
