Tulsa crime case reports Mrs. Nannie Doss, born in Alabama, given life imprisonment after pleading guilty to killing her fifth husband Samuel Doss with rat poison. Trial halted. she confessed four prior husband killings and faced mental evaluation and a sanity hearing.
The Senate met two hours early to vote on Eisenhower's 314 billion foreign aid bill with prospects of passage by nightfall. Amendments seek large cuts and shift more aid to loans while limiting total funding, amid a push by Sen Knowland for likely non-money changes.
A 64 year old woman, Mrs. Winifred W. L. Bacon, was found dead on Island Beach near Seaside Park after her two Doberman Pinschers, a male and a female, mauled her. The coroner listed death as massive hemorrhage from dog bites. Betsy Bacon was married to Brook B. Bacon of Philadelphia. The dogs, loose and racing, attacked during a walk. authorities impounded them.
BELGRADE Yugoslav President Tito and Soviet party boss Nikita S Khrushchev finalized a declaration outlining results of a week long Soviet Yugoslav talks. Russians led by Premier Bulganin with Mikoyan toured Yugoslavia and prepared for departure. Khrushchev praised Yugoslav concrete construction while cautioning on workers councils.
Washington officials weigh a two part Peiping formula for liberalizing 11 U.S. airmen held since Korea. Red China offered early releases for good records and said four crewmen were treated leniently and deported for carrying out military orders.

Virginia Circuit Judge Leon Bazile ruled that expenditure of a million dollar Hanover County school bond for construction is illegal in light of the Supreme Court segregation decision. He enjoined the county school board from issuing bonds or using them for any school purpose. The 21 page opinion could affect other Virginia counties with approved bond issues prior to the May 17 1954 ruling.
The Public Health Service reports 60 polio cases linked to Salk vaccine contacts, with 42 paralytic among them. The week ending May 28 totals 240 new cases nationwide, higher than any similar week in five years, bringing 1955 disease-year totals to 2,290.
Adlai E Stevenson urged federal support for private health insurance subsidies and medical research funding at the dedication of the Medical Science Building at New York University Bellevue Medical Center. He called for long term low interest loans and federal aid to medical schools while stressing private, nongovernmental solutions.
Airman Preston Gregory from La Junta Colorado, 21, earned the Sydney Sun headline The Only Yank of His Kind.
