Trail Board Seeks Protections for Cheoah Bald Area
The Appalachian Trail Conference voted to urge the National Forest Service to bar uses incompatible with wilderness in the Cheoah Bald Nantahala Gorge region of western North Carolina. It also urged a halt to Appalachian Highway Corridor K through the area and asked regional and federal officials to oppose the cross by the Appalachian Trail.
