Tax Prepayment Discounts Adopted by Guilford Board
Guilford County Board of Commissioners held its first meeting of the month and kept last year’s tax discount schedule. A 1 percent discount applies to July prepayments of 1959 taxes, with usual 0.5 percent for August September and October. Annexation in 10A fire district by High Point from Jan 1 complicates setting the fire tax rate. The 10A district will serve residents for six months next fiscal year, with costs calculable to lower service charges. Officers of 10A were reappointed for two years. the fire company may be disbanded sooner. Josey resigns as assistant solicitor. replacement discussed with Horace Kornegay and Ed Washington. A June 18 welfare board budget meeting was tentatively set. Bids opened for a prison farm combine. music piping approved for county halls.
