Belk Stevens Department Store unveils a grand opening in a newly remodeled modern building on North Main Street High Point. The store showcases carrara glass framed display windows with metal trim and a noted attractive facade as townspeople observe the impressive new storefront.
In High Point a business feature notes plans to overhaul a building to be one hundred percent modern throughout. Manager A emphasizes a comprehensive retrofit to upgrade facilities and align with current market standards.
Greensboro June 1 expert witness Robert A. Sutherland testified in Guilford Superior Court that the proposed High Point hydro electric plant on the Yadkin River would allow complete flood control and raise river flow during droughts. He cited a 600 cubic feet per second discharge during low flow and noted floods from 1912 onward could have been stemmed by the dam.

In Stratton Nebraska two years after a Republican River bridge collapse a car plunged into the water. Mrs W B Hall was rescued but her purse containing 185 dollars was lost. Three local youths found the purse near the river bottom and returned the money.
Mrs Hall and another recipient each received 810 rewards in a local distribution. The event highlighted community achievements and recognition of contributors.
