Ford’s personal agents remain in Washington awaiting a committee reply on the revocation offer. The manufacturer pledges immediate work if the congressional action is approved and notes no action has yet been taken.
Washington reports Henry Ford's remodified offer for Muscle Shoals development was studied by the House Military Committee but no action taken. Ford rejected removing the Gorgas steam plant and warned of a public muscle shoals effort if Congress rejects his bid. High Point health officials press council for an improved garbage system and mandatory tin can disposal rules.
Bids opened for construction and separate equipment for the new High Point city hall. City council to accept bids until Saturday at 2, June 3. Listed bids include multiple firms for building, heating, plumbing, electrical, cell and elevator equipment with varied amounts.
In Indianapolis Democrats open their state convention with plans for fall campaign speeches. Frederick Van Nuys faults Versailles treaty failure for economic woes and calls the four power pact a shadow of the League of Nations. Samuel M. Ralston accuses Republicans of blind reconstruction policy and says the tariff bill shuts foreign markets, worsening unemployment.
Mrs. Emma White of Oxford North Carolina died after being struck by a car on Broad Street in Richmond Virginia. Her niece Mrs. Mary Leach of Richmond sustained probable fatal injuries as the driver I L Martin was to be arrested, police said.
Langley Field authorities direct a board of inquiry to investigate the Richmond airplane accident that claimed the life of Lieut. William A. Syndor. The fatal crash occurred yesterday near Richmond as military aviation officials review the incident details.
Lieut William A Syndor fell to his death when his plane crashed from about 700 feet over his uncle's yard four miles west of Richmond. The body to be taken to his parents in Wilkesboro North Carolina after identification by his uncle.
Washington June 1 The allied debt funding commission held its second meeting to discuss funding the 11 billion dollar debt owed abroad. No date set for talks with France on its war debt and Britain has given no direct reply to funding arrangements.
At the grand chapter annual meeting in Macon Georgia Mrs Ellen A Chapin of Pine Meadows Connecticut worthy grand matron of the sovereign grand chapter United States received a reception. About 220 delegates are represented at the session.
In Greensboro on June 1 the college clarified that a letter demanding Prof. E C Lindeman's resignation from the North Carolina College for Women had no bearing on his resignation. Lindeman had offered to quit April 4. the board acted only last night. A prior letter signed by Ku Klux Klan was denied by Col William J Simmons as not connected to the college.
Portsmouth Va June 1 session of the Virginia league directors here was postponed to Saturday night due to Ownerg's refusal to attend the meeting in Rocky Mount. Frank Lawrence Portsmouth club president received the postponement by telephone from W S Moye league president.
In Memphis on June 1 attending physicians reported Bishop John Kilgo of the Methodist Episcopal Church South is showing decided improvement after several days in a local hospital. Mrs Kilgo and the bishop’s two sons have returned to Charlotte North Carolina.
Washington June 1 The house rules committee voted seven to four to rescind its prior action giving privileged status to the Woodruff Johnson resolution. The measure sought a probe into allegations of lax government prosecution of war fraud cases.
Local Rotary session featured Frank Wineskie sharing mirror manufacturing insights and optimistic views on postwar business. Miss Johnson and Miss Thelma Wineskie performed two solos, with Mr Wineskie also quoting Gary of United States Steel. Adelle Wineskie presented two readings. Club opts to hold weekly summer meetings.
Edward H. Fitzgerald, grand president of the Brotherhood of Railway clerks and related unions, announced that sixteen chiefs of railroad brotherhoods and other officers will meet in Cincinnati next Tuesday to discuss matters vital to railway workers. About forty executives are expected. the meeting was called on instructions of B. M. Jewell of the American Federation of Labor.
Atlantic Coast Line announces likely wage reductions to align with federal railway labor board freight rate cuts. President J. K. Kenley says coast line and southern carriers will accept the board's ruling, seeking lower costs and higher traffic to restore reasonable returns on investments.
The United States Railroad Labor Board announced a new wage slash affecting about 400000 showcrafts workers including blacksmiths machinists boiler makers and electrical workers. The reduction ranges from 5 to 9 cents an hour with apprentices and helpers among those affected.
Lexington June 1 Over strenuous objection by Jess J Armfield the court allowed in a large set of Bank of Thornville ledger balance records to show chronic overdrafts. Julius Green former paging clerk testified about items, while A J L Brooks argued he could not swear to entries made by a pagi machine. Green’s testimony, key to more documentary evidence, was readied for jury.
In Pensacola Florida a United States court on Tuesday awarded Pensacola Marine a verdict of 355678.40 dollars against Esas Oil Company in a breach of contract case over fuel prices supplied by Texas Oil Company.
Columbus Ga June 1 selection of a city manager to replace H Gordon Hinkle of Altoona Pa who held the post since the city government changed will be decided by the commissioners at a meeting this week.

Reports indicate about 2500 has been raised by High Point YWCA campaign workers aiming at 1000000. A pep meeting is planned at the YW hut tonight at 8 o'clock. Mrs Henry White campaign chair asks all workers to attend and notes special recognition for the winning team.
Twelve of thirteen balloons from Milwaukee yesterday were still aloft today. Five must be crossing Lake Erie as seven have been seen past Illinois and Missouri towns. Balloon No. 1 from St. Louis landed six miles north of Fort Wayne.
