An official report from Vienna dated July 31 describes the execution of Franz Holzweber and Otto Planetta. As Holzweber stood on the gallows he shouted I die for Germany Heil Hitler while Planetta cried Hail Hitler.
Bryan Grant, Atlanta star, defeats Robert Bryan of Chattanooga in three set battle 7-6 6-8 6-4 to reach quarter finals at the Meadow club invitation tournament in Boutthampt on.
Two of five escapees from the state prison were recaptured in Mexico Missouri. John Burnett, 27, and William Jay, 43, were arrested after taking a weapon from Chief of Police Robert W. Baker. Mayor W. A. Debo wounded one of the escapees during the pursuit.

Baltimore July 31 A 16 year old, William Walters, was struck and killed while trying to save a small black kitten. He and friends were at a street intersection when the kitten ran into the road and he dashed into traffic to save it. He had previously saved a dog's life twice by similar actions.
Washington reports continuation of the 4.2 cent per pound tax on raw cotton for the 1934-35 year to counter rumors. Officials say the tax supports the production control payments program and rental and benefit schemes and that no rate adjustment is needed at this time.
JERSEY CITY N J July 31 The mystery of a hearse abandoned here three days ago was partly solved when Henry Singleton a undertaker of Florence S. C. appeared at police headquarters and claimed the vehicle He said I just left it parked and went over to New York Singleton had parked the hearse on the main highway to the Holland tunnel Police removed it yesterday He had driven to take a body down south for burial and left shortly after the visit to headquarters
Dudley Gaskey, 21, an unemployed textile worker, shot and killed himself with a shotgun in Concord. Coroner Ira W. Yow ruled death a self-inflicted act with no inquest. Relatives blamed despondency over joblessness.
In Vienna two Nazi conspirators, Otto Planetta and Franz Holzweber, were executed by court martial for high treason and the murder of Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss. Holzweber led the putsch into the chancellery. Planetta admitted firing the fatal shot.
