Top Young Tunesmith Has Never Written Rock N Roll Number
Robert Allen, 31, is the Tin Pan Alley tunesmith who has not written a rock n roll song. His hits include Home for the Holidays Everybody Loves a Lover If Dreams Came True and Enchanted Island. He writes music, collaborates on lyrics, and says a hit song can take half an hour to compose though ideas may take six months. He values artistic reward over riches and enjoys hearing people hum his songs on the street.
