Canada Sets Pattern For U S Demobilization Program
Canada has set the pattern for American demobilization plans for armed services members. The NRBP consulted Canadian officials to draft recommendations for President Roosevelt. The Canadian committee on demobilization and rehabilitation outlined three basic principles: reestablishing individuals in suitable permanent employment, providing training and medical treatment to improve employability, and financial and medical support during the transition period. The plan already provides mustering out pay, guaranteed reemployment by employers, 12 months of free medical care for disabilities, and vocational training options.
