Recollections Of Old High Point By A E Tate
A E Tate at the Kiwanis luncheon at the Elwood hotel presented reminiscences of High Point fifty years ago. He traced the town’s origin from Jamestown and Trinity with the 1859 incorporation after the North Carolina railroad arrived. He noted early factories, the first furniture plants in 1888 and 1893, and described historic costs such as board and room rates.
