Thomasville soldier SFC Robert Green returns to the Korean front after recuperating in Tokyo from battle fatigue. He has served on the Korean front for 12 months and in a letter described his Tokyo regimen eating a head of lettuce and three tomatoes each morning.
The forecast calls for continued heat with scattered showers this afternoon as mountain clouds build. A weather spokesman says showers are very likely this afternoon and that yesterday's 90 degree heat will repeat with the peak in the early afternoon, after a low of 68 degrees last night.
Thomasville pastor Rev. Wilson O. Weldon of Memorial Methodist Church leaves Thomasville on Wednesday to attend the world Methodist Conference in London. The ten year event opens September 28 in England, with Weldon sailing from New York on September 10 and arriving in London the next day.
The city will welcome its first Swedish system massage parlor for men opening within a few days at 300 N Main Street in High Point Barber Shop. Everett L Proctor will operate the parlor offering two foam rubber designs and home calls for the unable.
The Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond reported lower building permit valuations for last month and the first six months of this year compared to the same periods in 1950. High Point fell from 329,280 to 236,680 in June, and six month totals declined from 2,057,852 to 1,781,395. Winston-Salem and Asheville showed increases, while six other North Carolina cities saw similar declines.
A 1950 comprehensive report shows Guilford County health costs totaling 731.79 with per capita expense 1.65. The county provided 244 392 79 of the budget, state 35 595 and federal the balance. The department, NCs first health service in county government, employs nearly 60 staff across multiple health fields.
