Army records branch may move to St Louis in fall
Demobilized personnel records unit, occupying the 14 story Southern Furniture Exposition building, plans to vacate by November 1 and transfer staff to St Louis in October. The move could ease local rental pressure and affect clerical jobs, though most staff handle records filing rather than stenography or secretarial work. The furniture mart awaits official War Department directions and foresees possible July reopening if travel and materials allow.
