Smith and Brown, local painting contractors, win the job on High Point's new Junior high school opposite the Senior high plant. Work begins soon while most tasks occur later. R. K. Stewart and Son report progress, with the building water-tight and plastering advancing rapidly. The complete project aims to finish ahead of the contract deadline. The old Junior high site will host a new federal building, with lease or sale terms to be decided by the school board. A forthcoming meeting will address the lease and fall reopening plans.

City Renews Big Note To Keep Credit Intact
The city won a renewal on $845,000 of notes after earlier refusals by a Baltimore holder and a Boston investor. A Baltimore bank board initially blocked the deal, but a five percent rate with brokerage for 90 days was granted, keeping the original renewal plan. The move delays a potential default and buys time to arrange long term bonds for the $2,225,000 floating debt.
