May Intervened Twice For Garsson's Son In War Dept Clarification
The War Department said Rep. May intervened twice with General Eisenhower on behalf of Capt. Joseph Garsson, son of a munitions promoter under Senate scrutiny. The letters, sent in the European theater, had no influence on the court martial, which found Garsson guilty of wilful disobedience. Garsson was relieved from active duty earlier, and clemency was debated through the chain of command.
