Floor pictures reveal 6th century synagogue art in Palestine
In 525 a contractor Marianos and his son Hanina laid an ornamental stone mosaic floor in a northern Palestine village synagogue. Their dated inscription, noting Justinian’s era, makes this building the only Palestinian synagogue with a precisely known date, aiding reconstruction of ancient religious life alongside churches and mosques.

Synagogue Mosaic Reveals Beth Alpha Heritage in Esdraelon
Archaeologists uncovered a 14th century mosaic floor in Beth Alpha, Palestine, showing Abraham and Isaac, ritual objects, and a central zodiac scene. The find links ancient Jewish worship with Greek influence and notes three-nave layout, north entrances, and a surprising apse.
