The Oak View Demonstration club met Friday afternoon at Mrs. Enos Blair's home with Mrs. Judson Ruth presiding. Mrs. Lamar presented a talk on Personal Appearance and Ray Idol was named chair of the Christmas fund.
The Women’s Society of Christian Service of Main Street Methodist Church will hold its general meeting Monday evening at the church at 7 45. Members are urged to be present.
Announcement of the marriage of Miss Cliffie Iris Jackson USNR WA daughter of Mr and Mrs Niston Alabama to S Sgt William S Wall United States Army son of Mr and Mrs S B Wall High Point. They wed June 22 at Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church Washington D C. Bride wore white navy uniform and purple orchid. Attendant Miss Evelyn Atwood and best man Willis Conover. Music by James Montgomery. They honeymooned in Maine and New Hampshire before Wall reported to Miami Beach Florida.
Mr and Mrs Andy G Merrilees announce the marriage of their daughter Marjorie to Ralph Dewey Blalock Junior on Thursday July 19 1945 in Durham North Carolina. They reside at 1012 Virgie Street Durham NC.
The female group will gather Monday evening at eight o'clock at the church. All members are urged to attend this meeting.
Scouts day camp ends with a July 27 gala folk dance and song festival. Campers travel by bus to City Lake for a 4 60 pm practice and picnic, program at 7 45 pm, return by 9 pm. Names and counselors listed for closing week.
The Adams Memorial YWCA announces a week of outdoor suppers and social events. Activities include a Florence Nightingale picnic at Blair Park, meetings at the YWCA, Camp Betty Hastings registrations, and a watermelon feast with square dancing at the city lake.
The Altrusa club will host its June program at the Sheraton hotel Tuesday evening after the dinner, starting at 6 30. Co chairs Louise Abernathy and Madeline Hoover present speaker Omas E Dodamead, a local artist and photographer, who will give a chalk talk. Mrs Dodamead will attend as a guest. Music arrangements are being finalized.
The regular sub district meeting of the Methodist youth peers shifts to a picnic on July 24 at Jacksons Pond replacing the scheduled gathering. Members meet at South Main Methodist Church at 6 30 PM Tuesday bringing their own lunch and drink. ice will be supplied. A brief business session precedes vespers led by Mrs Wilson Weldon to close the outing.
Officials announce the High Point Community Concert association season with Leonard Warren as October 5 opener and Adolf Busch on October 17. Don Cossack Russian Chorus appears November 4 and Foxhole Ballet closes April 16 1946. Membership only and info via Mrs Tomlinson or Mrs Amos.
The High Point Council of Church Women will meet at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church Monday at 3 PM for its Faso session. Mrs C A McMurray, president, asks every member to attend. The executive board met the previous Thursday at Mrs McMurray's home for a report of the meeting.
The report states several matters will be presented for the council's approval at the general session tomorrow.
