Lake Huron Name Origin From Huron People History
An old map notes Lake Huron named after the Huron Indians. La Salle and crew aboard the Griffin visited the lake. Father Louis Hennepin records Hurons dressed hair like a wild boar. The Wendat called themselves Bear Bowl Rock People. Hurons once numbered about 30 000, living east of the lake and trading furs with Dutchmen.

Stories in Stamps by LS Klein
Choes of the Dark Ages loom from Mt Athos in Greece where 7000 monks run a male only religious republic with temples and rulers. Greek chroniclers note the 1927 stamp memory of Simon Peter. The piece also covers Iroquois victories over Hurons, Lake Huron’s size and islands, and a note on puzzles in a Funmaker leaflet.
