Draft pool increases reported by several states
Selective Service officials say state calls had no link to the Berlin crisis while several states report rises in their ready pools. Massachusetts plans a jump in its pool from 1,200 to 2,100 as the national pool is said to double from 50,000 to 100,000, though officials dispute this. The draft could rise to meet an Army target of 870,000 from 856,000, following an August call.
