Reds Shoot Down Two Sabre Jets
Two American Sabre jets were shot down by Communist fliers in North Korea marking the first Sabres lost in combat since May 17. The 5th Air Force said Allied pilots achieved a 65 to 1 victory margin over MIGs in the past two months, with 131 MIGs destroyed overall. Far East air forces also reported heavy bombing and ground actions in the Sinuiju and Kumsong Kumhwa districts as Chinese and North Korean forces clashed with South Korean troops on the central front.

Whitt Sentenced to 18 to 25 Years in Lewallen Murder
Robert Burton Whitt, 44, received an 18 to 25 year term from Superior Court Judge Frank M.
