Jolly Y Club Installs Slate and Hosts Dance

The Jolly Y Club installed its new officers with Miss Gen Polston presiding as retiring president and Miss Maxine Kennedy installed as president. A dinner at Asia Restaurant preceded the installation at the YWCA clubrooms, followed by an informal dance with about fifteen guests.

Stay-At-Home Campers Plan Picnic Postponed

Members of the Y stay-at home camp were entertained with a ghost story session and a watermelon feast. Miss Ruth Ferguson showed three film reels as part of the program. The City Lake picnic was postponed to next Tuesday. Campers meet at the YWCA at 10 a.m. for the outing.

Evening Bridge at Emerywood Club with Dinner

Tonight at 7 30 Emerywood Country Club hosts a large evening bridge event in the clubhouse. The dessert bridge features Mr and Mrs J S Welborn as hosts. Last night about 150 members guests attended a family dinner with dinner served six thirty to eight in the main lounge.

Miss Primm Honored in Greensboro Farewell Luncheon

A Greensboro luncheon at Summit Avenue honored Miss Judy Primm who departs Monday for a War Department post in Washington. Guests included Miss Primm and sixteen friends from Burlington Winston-Salem and Greensboro, with Mrs. D T Caney hosting a four course meal featuring gladiolas and pink white decor. Women of Moose Meet at Hall Presided by Frances Lopp

The Women of the Moose held a regular meeting last evening at the Moose Hall with Senior Regent Frances Lopp presiding. A thank you note from USO representative Mrs. G M Haley was read for donated food. Tickets will be distributed to 25 service men via USO on Saturday night July 22 1944 for a 7:00 supper at Moose Hall. The Mooseheart Endowment Fund was noted and the meeting adjourned to August 3.

Informal USO Dance Planned At YMCA Gymnasium

The USO hosts an informal dance this Saturday at 8 30 p m in the YMCA gym with senior hostesses whose last names begin with M and N serving. Miss Carolyn Ward will sing during intermission and Mrs G M Haley accompanies at the piano. A Sunday night garden supper at Mrs J F Hayden 400 East Washington Street is planned if weather permits, otherwise at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church basement, five to seven.

South Side Prayer Band Meets Saturday at Home

The W. M. A. circle two prayer band of Southside Baptist church will hold a prayer meeting Saturday evening at 7 30 at the home of Mrs Chamblin 917 Redding street Miss Daisy Shaw will serve as prayer band leader and the public is invited to attend.

New Workers Produce 1825 Red Cross Dressings at Kivett Drive

About 25 workers, many new to the task, produced 1 825 surgical dressings last night at the Kivett Drive Red Cross Rooms in Union Hill school. This followed a 1 125 total on opening night. Rooms will be open Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays 7 to 9 PM for war work supervised by Mrs. A L Stevens.
