Two robbers held up the Bank of Dallas in Dallas North Carolina during a thunderstorm. They beat cashier A J Mauney, locked him in the vault, and escaped with about $2000 in cash. A 1928 sedan was used and a large search followed with guards on highways. Two killed and eighty injured in Seville riots reported separately.
Washington reports reveal President Von Hindenburg's urgent appeal to President Hoover for immediate outside relief as Germany faces peak economic distress. The letter dated June 20, 1930, warns of further unemployment, reduced reserves, and a need for swift action to avert widespread disaster.

Thomas J. Phillips, 33, Lenoir auto dealer and former mayor of North Wilkesboro, died from pistol wounds after a ride with widow Charlotte Yount near Kings Mountain. The incident occurred on Grover road. a pistol was found nearby. Mrs. Yount was detained for questioning and an inquest is planned for Friday.

In Ogdensburg New York on July 21 AP reports Frank Fitzherbert and neighbors began tearing down a stable to rescue a litter of puppies trapped in an inaccessible hole. Feeding the puppies from a long pole failed as death by starvation loomed.
Albert B. Fall was committed to the New Mexico state penitentiary as prisoner number 6991 for one year and a day for taking 100000 to negotiate a lease on federal oil naval reserves. He arrived from Three Rivers after an eight year legal fight and faced a private hospital room as doctors weighed his ability to endure confinement.
In St Clairsville Ohio 16 year old William Simon was shot during a clash between working and striking miners at the Gaylord mine near Martins Ferry. Joseph Peterlin 43 was arrested after firing from an automobile as 40 pickets stood nearby. Sheriff guards the jail as 500 gathered and more arrests followed in Jefferson county where strikers reportedly stoned workers and tear gas was used.
Dispatches report a cannibal tribe near Leopoldville killed and ate M. Mallot, the Belgian district commissioner, after he protested an assault on a village storekeeper. Police intervened as clashes continued, with seven natives killed and later 50 more slain in ensuing encounters.
A violent windstorm killed three people and injured forty in Lubin Poland. The storm tore roofs from about a thousand buildings and disrupted electric and telephone service, shattering thousands of windows in the affected area during the night.
