Geneva report says the Big Four paused on German unification and security issues after long talks. Eisenhower voiced hope both sides share a desire for lasting peace as ministers debated German unification and European security, with top aides arriving for potential disarmament talks.

Senate investigators asked the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service to study a hearing transcript with new bribe accusations against Harry Lev a Chicago cap maker. Lev said he cannot remember what he did with $20 000 withdrawn in 1953 and denied paying bribes though he promised to try again to recall. The panel ordered the stenographic record sent to the two agencies for possible action as it probes graft in Lev's Mid City Uniform Cap Co and other armed forces suppliers.
President Eisenhower hosted Soviet Marshal Georgi Zhukov for a private lunch at the Geneva villa with only two interpreters present. Ambassador Bohlen arrived to serve as interpreter while gate access remained restricted.

Dr Charles F Carroll state superintendent was misquoted by the AP denying that closing public schools solves the segregation issue. The quote about fanning prejudice was meant for State Sen D J Rose who spoke with Carroll at a conference of leaders in North Carolina and National Education Association.
