Washington observers view the Kellogg Briand pact as a stabilizing factor in the China Russia dispute over the Chinese Eastern railway. Soviets indicate intent to honor the treaty while Washington expects similar Chinese action following Secretary Stimson’s reminder of their obligations.
Chicago July 20 Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis commissioner of baseball received the Distinguished Service Medal from Paul V. McNutt national commander of the American Legion. McNutt praised Landis devotion to defenders of the nation and legion ideals stating he has answered every call. Landis is the third American to receive the award after Pershing and Coontz with nine foreigners also honored.
Wade Conrad a moulder at Cook-Lewis Foundry was shot in Greensboro North Carolina this morning by Charles Weaver a Black helper Conrad was severely wounded and in Clinic hospital Four hours after the incident posse with shotguns and revolvers searched the town for Weaver said to have fled carrying a shotgun An altercation allegedly sparked the shooting with Weaver calling Conrad a liar.

The Pagoda and bathhouses, Seafood Grill, shooting galleries and other concessions burned. only the Ferris wheel remained. Firefighters from Beaufort and Morehead City could not reach the scene due to deep sand. No damage estimate or cause known.

Berlin July 20 America's dashing doubles team won the clinching match against Germany's Daniel Prenop and Hans Molderhaur with scores of 9-11 6-2 6-4 6-3. This gives the United States the right to meet France in the Davis Cup challenge round.
City of Charlotte announces sale of notes totaling 2 130 000. Bids will be received by July 24 at City Hall. City Manager Rigsby disclosed the plan in a published notice.
