Henry Dwire Dies at Duke Hospital in Durham

Henry R. Dwire 61, Duke University vice president and public relations director, died early today at Duke Hospital after an operation in July. A Winston-Salem native and Trinity College alumnus, he served as editor at Twin City Sentinel and held several Duke posts including University Press director and South Atlantic Quarterly editor. Services set for 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Duke Chapel with burial in Winston-Salem that afternoon. No immediate survivors listed.

Work Started On Another Polio Building

Work began today on a new permanent building at the Catawba County health camp near Hickory to aid the infantile paralysis epidemic. The 30 by 150 foot addition will house about fifty patients, sit near the main building with space for a swimming pool, and cost about fifteen thousand dollars, funded by county contributions and local fundraising.

Detroit July 17 production of B 24 Liberators resumed at the Willow Run bomber plant as workers returned to duty after a shutdown caused by crane operators and riggers. Skeleton crews opened the plant at midnight to ready for full day shift production.

Woman Assaulted En Route to Greensboro Mill

Mrs. Charles R. Harris Jr., 26, mother of two, was stabbed in the right breast by an unidentified Black man in civilian clothes while walking to White Oak Cotton mill. Police, aided by bloodhounds, cordoned the area. the attack occurred between 6:45 and 7:15 a.m. and the injured woman was treated at St. Leo's hospital.
