Showman’s Widow Seeks Release From Burlington Jail
Mrs Doris Brunen and her brother Harry C Mohr face murder charges in the Riverside killing of John T Brunen on March 10. Attorney Walter H Keown filed for a writ of habeas corpus with Supreme Court and a Kalich hearing is set. Mohr admitted firing the shot. Powell claimed Brunen’s wife helped after being linked by his statements.

Gamblers Locked Up Aboard Ocean Liner Olympus
On the White Star liner Olympus from Southampton and Cherbourg a trio of professional gamblers caused trouble after being banned from smoking room games. A fight with a New York business passenger led to a scene at the Rit restaurant and the captain jailed the gambler for forty eight hours. Captain Hamilton warned of gambling on board.

High Point approves Morris and Bain street improvements
The High Point City Council adopts a resolution to create an improvement district for Morris Street from Glenn Avenue to Bath Avenue and Bain Avenue from North Main to Morris. R. G. Lassiter Co. to pave with asphalt concrete on a four inch base with granite curbing and concrete gutter, funded by four fifths of pavement cost and special assessments on abutting property.
