North Carolina Governor J M Broughton says the South can gain unprecedented industrial growth if it maintains momentum after the war. The state guard encampment is delayed due to polio concerns, possibly moved before October 1. Dr Carl V Reynolds urges delaying rural school openings as polio cases rise to 141 statewide. Funeral notices, local church services, a Silver Tea, and community notices accompany health and safety guidance on food storage and water intake.
