Holders Of Vets Insurance Not Always Beneficiaries
The Veterans of Foreign Wars bureau warns dependents that National Service Life Insurance certificates do not guarantee beneficiary status. Beneficiary designations may change, and claims should wait for official notification from the Veterans Administration or a claimant’s representative. During the insured’s lifetime the VA and service groups withhold beneficiary details for privacy. If the policy matures from death, the VFW bureau will provide the designated beneficiary upon inquiry.
