U S car sales in June reached 805000 with six month total near 4.6 million, marking a 14 percent rise. Buick and Ford posted record June results while Chrysler gained 21 percent over last year.
The Associated Press average of 60 stocks moved higher for the second straight week, closing at 323.7 up from 321.1. The commodity index led gains with livestock lifting the broader index to 172.5 from 172.4 in the prior period.
