THOMASVILLE at 4 p.m. on June 28 Hazel Louise Bennett and Steven Ray Carter united in marriage in a ceremony at Parkplace Baptist Church. The couple plans residence in the area.
Members of the Auxiliary to VEW Post 9899 met Tuesday at the Post Home in Archdale to finalize plans for a hospital party for Veterans Hospital patients in Salisbury set for 2 p.m. July 20. Entertainment by a band and refreshments will be provided. Emma Vaughn, 10th District president, attended, with Virginia Evans, state president, also slated for the Reidsville district meeting July 27. The auxiliary was honored at Greensboro convention June 27-29 with merit citations in community service hospital work and rating, plus a membership check. A rummage and bake sale was approved for Sept. 13 at the Post Home.
The PBX Club of High Point held its July meeting at Bonanza Sirloin, with plans announced for the annual family picnic on July 19 at Oak Hollow inviting members to bring families and employers. Six local members will attend the Richmond International Convention July 23 27, and Harold Buerge will be honored before starting a job in Ohio. Shirley Everhart won the door prize and four July birthdays were celebrated. the August meeting will be at Brenda Driggers home.

Mr and Mrs Bobby Glen Saunders of Route 3 announce the birth of daughter Amy Dalton on July 9 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Mrs Saunders is the former Vicki Roberson. Mr and Mrs James H Roberts Jr of 2080 Kendall Ave announce the birth of daughter Beverly Michelle on July 8 at High Point Memorial Hospital. Mrs Roberts is the former Anita Mason.
Karen Baker and G D Garrison Jr were married in a 2 pm ceremony at the bride’s parents home. Rev J A Grout officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack S Baker of 1606 Merrimon Place. Attendant Candy Tonnette Baker and best man Joe Grant participated. The bride studies at Andrews High School and works at Family Dollar. the groom, an Andrews graduate, works at G D Construction Co. They will live at 2607 B Guyer Street.
