Rumor and Sports Lore Echo From a Bygone Era
A jumble of 1930s sports chatter runs through references to a "Mystery Man" of golf and Montague in New York 1980, along with notes on Erskine McIwain, Jake Rupert, the Yankees pennant chase, Ailey Donald, and Jints farm trouble. It mentions the All Star game in Washington, 1939 World's Fair glimpses, Poffenberger, Harold Vanderbilt, Ensenor Endeavour, Maribel Vinson, Bobby McLean, Bill Bailey, Tommy Farr versus Joe Louis, and the Negro heavyweight title history, reflecting a collage of vintage sports gossip and folklore.
