A new College Village Methodist Church is planned for the northeast High Point area. A lot at E Lexington Avenue and E College Street has been bought to host the building. Lawrence G. Paul, 19, had served a year and a half of a 219 year sentence at Tonia State Reformatory for purse snatching. The case was dismissed after Paul's attorney sought a nosy trial on the ground that a witness admitted he lied in identifying Paul. Paul arrived at the county jail and was to appear in recorder's court for discharge.
New York AP report that actress Shelley Winters will seek a legal separation from husband actor Anthony Franciosa. The couple married in 1957, with Winters touring a New York area summer stock engagement while Franciosa remains in Hollywood. It marks Winters third marriage and Franciosa’s second.
Ottawa police probing an $1,800 burglary found loot hidden in the station. Clifton Hicks, 25, admitted involvement as detectives recovered $1,107.68 from the washroom and kitchen area while investigating a series of thefts. Hicks was charged with burglary.
Eight month old James Thomas, son of Billy Joe Thomas and Trisha Jones, drowned in a bathroom commode in Fort Worth. Firemen worked over an hour trying to revive him after the accident was discovered when Trisha Jones screamed. The child’s head was submerged. cause unknown.
