Mystery surrounds Gaston murder of eight year old Rhonda Mitchem
Gastonia officials pressed for clues after coroner’s jury ruled Rhonda Mitchem died at her home on June 16 from multiple .22 caliber gunshot wounds. Family members including LeGrande and Jimmy Mitchem testified, with a note raised suggesting the mother may have killed the child and attempted suicide. The mother is hospitalized and not yet recovered.
