Bailey 10 Confers With Attorney In Freight Rate Case
Commissioner I M Bailey of the State Corporation Commission will meet in Washington with attorney Wilbur LaRoe to discuss opposing Virginia shipper petitions to abolish North Carolina rate exception sheets and substitute the Southeastern rate sheet. If the change is granted, intra state rates could rise 20 to 40 percent, while the commission argues inter state rates under the Southeastern sheet are excessive and discriminatory. The state seeks extra time to file its answer before the July 22 deadline.
