May Indicated Involvement With Cumberland Timber Firm
The report notes that in June 1943 testimony claimed Cumberland Lumber was thoroughly covered by documents and that three Justice Department officials met the investigating committee. It recalls May’s 1943 disclosure of owning timberland near Partridge, Ky., and later sale of Cumberland to A C Brown in 1945 for about 32,000. May insisted no profit was gained from war contracts and that the committee could verify the accounts.

Soviet proposal shifts treaty ratification as troop removal deadline
Reportedly Moscow favors making ratification the critical point for setting troop withdrawal deadlines. Molotov’s idea would give Russia leeway to keep troops abroad while treaties await senatorial approval. Estimates place total foreign troops at about 1.5 million, with 600,000 in Germany and 350,000 in Poland, plus possible forces in transit such as in Czechoslovakia.
