Two More Bank Dividends Forseen Addresses Meet Of Legislature

John D. Biggs receiver of the Commercial National bank announced a possible second dividend near ten percent around October. He noted $250,000 cash raised could support another 10 percent payout and that public sale of about 30 properties within 90 days may add roughly $275,000 to fund another dividend. He cited a bank building sale to Galloway of Charlotte for $250,000 as enabling a loan payment to the Reconstruction Finance Corp and potential future dividends. The purchaser identity remained speculative amid court proceedings in Greensboro.

A masked bandit robbed Citizens Bank of South Boston of 1200 dollars forcing cashier Arthur Tuck and two employees into a safe. The gunman fled. janitor Jeter Henderson was held at gunpoint until clerk Darrelle Canada arrived. Police sought the robber who escaped.

Ohio Congressman Duffey Dies at 50 in Toledo

Warren J. Duffey 50 the Toledo Democrat and ninth district congressman died here after several weeks illness in Toledo Ohio authorities said. Duffey served in congress and was prominent in local politics. News of his death prompted tributes from colleagues and constituents.

Dismissal of Robeson County Farm Agent Upheld

Robeson County commissioners sustain their June 18 discharge of county farm agent O. O. Dukes despite protests from about 400 farmers gathered at a mass meeting in Lamberton. Dukes received notice of discharge October 1 and the four to one vote affirmed the decision at a rehearing demanded by the Robeson Pomona Grange.

Michigan City doctor who attended about 6 000 births said no clear chance remains for a surviving twin girl born to Mrs Wesley Glick. The sister died five minutes after birth from a bone fusion at the base of the brain. The surviving twin, five and a half pounds, is in critical condition at the clinic hospital. Noted divine Cadman fights death after hospital appeal

Plattsburgh New York July 7 noted preacher Dr. S Parkes Cadman fought death in Champlain Valley hospital after complications from an operation. Doctors delayed appendix removal due to his weak condition. The 71 year old Brooklyn clergyman stood the operation well but remained in very critical condition. Cadman collapsed Sunday night during a peace address at the Methodist Episcopal church.

Hosiery Workers Prefer Home Jobs in Durham

In Durham on July 7 records show 300 or more unemployed hosiery mill workers offered jobs in out of town plants with free transport. Only 80 accepted and 30 returned to the city as the Durham Employment Service notes, while hundreds were displaced when the Edgemont unit of Durham Hosiery Mills closed. The office seeks workers for a silk throwing plant at the old North State mill site on Alston Avenue in West Durham.

Wake County Challenged Absentee Votes in Primary

Ben Templeton for McDonald camp challenged all absentee ballots in Wake County after the Saturday primary. The protest alleges signatures on absentee affidavits were not listed with the clerk as required by law. About 1200 ballots possibly affected.
