State Tax Take Surges Beyond Estimates for Fiscal Year
Tax collections into the general fund rose to 368.2 million, 50.7 million above last year and 20.6 million over the 1961 legislative estimates. Highway funds gained 3.76 percent to 142.9 million with gasoline taxes contributing 107.8 million more than the previous year. Sales tax totals reached 131,215,913, up 41,402,793.
